Matthew had really wanted to play volleyball in HS. Unfortunately due to the broken collar bone he was not cleared to play. So he joined the track team instead.
He did it to stay in shape for soccer as much as anything. He ran the 100 and 200. He didn't love it, but we saw much improvement over the season. He started out the season with us just happy when he wasn't last. By the end of the season he came in 4th place in the 200 for the freshmen in the district competition. Way to stick it out and see it through. I was most impressed with him with the fact that even though he found he didn't really enjoy track he stuck with it and did the best he could all the way through. He did find he enjoyed the triple jump but we'll do a separate post about that.
