Salt Lake Temple...our traditional visit

Every year when we go to Utah we try to visit Temple Square and the Salt Lake Temple.  I love to teach and try to instill in the kids my love for the temple.  That is a great way.  Rachel's favorite is the Christus.  It has been for years.  She just wants to sit there for so long and see him.

One of my favorite things they have added to the visitor's centers in the last year or two is this miniture of the temple.  To have the kids be able to see what is inside the temple and learn about it is such a wonderful thing.  Not to mention it's just cool to look at the little one with the big one as the backdrop.
We went up to the top of the Joseph Smith Building to see the temple from up high.  It is fun to reminise with the kids about our wedding brunch we had up there with just our parents.  It was one of my favorite parts of my wedding day.

Matthew is getting so big he looks as big as the temple up there.  I wish we had been able to go with Harrison too, but we just couldn't fit it in once he got to Utah.

We had a nice picnic lunch outside the temple and enjoyed the beautiful weather you get there.

Of course we took our traditional pictures out on the pedistal.  The kids love to look though these pictures we have of us pretty much every year from the time we were married until now.  To see my kid who now stands taller than me he just reminds me so much of John when we were there for the wedding.

Rachel and Ellie had to make sure to do the "wedding" poses.

Ellie was just super excited to be able to stand at the door to Jesus's house.  One of these days she is sure when she knocks on the door he will answer for her.

And finally I love these trees that are around the temple.  Again, we have wedding pictures of us at the tree and now my kids so big!
Once we were done with temple square we went over to the visitors center for a while.  My favorite thing there was shen Ellie convinced Matthew to dance with a dress like him since the vest only "was just too boring".  Funny girl and what a great sport he is.
As I said, I love that we go and learn something new or different every time we go to Salt Lake and spend time there.  I love that my kids love to do that.

Matthew has grown up so much and he is such a good sport to make his sisters happy.
