John is usually so busy with work and church and family and the stuff around the house that needs to get done it's not very often that he gets to play. This is to document the couple things he has gotten to do lately. One thing we don't take advantage of very well living in Arizona is spring training. We love it and always want to go to lots of the games but due to money and time we never seem to make it to any. This year Johns work took one day that they bought enough seats for everyone at his office and during the business day they all went to a spring training game together. He loved it. For a guy who loves baseball it's the perfect day at work!
The other thing he has gotten to do to go out with the boy scouts with some of their outings. This is a picture from the top of flat iron at the supersition mountains here in Arizona. It's a grueling 3 mile hike up and 3 mile hike back down. The boys camped at the base the on Friday night. Not paying attention to the weather forcast they opted to sleep under the stars. This ended up being a HUGE mistake when it poured on them in the middle of the night. But John got up threw tarps over the boys and changed his soaked clothes and slept the rest of the night in the van. Then they got up and hiked the mountain. He went slow on the way up but after being the last down the moutain in October when he hiked this with the priests he made sure he was not in the slowest group on the way down. One of the strangest things was when they got to the top it snowed on them. Now that is NOT something you see everyday in April in Arizona.
