Christmas Lights at the temple

This year with all that went on we didn't make it down to the temple to see the lights before Christmas. I felt bad, but we all know why so we all accepted it. Matthew didn't make it with the youth as he was sick that day and Rachel didn't make it with Activity days as their activity was cancelled. So feeling bad we dropped everything Thursday after Christmas to pack up and squish (I mean that literally, still no working van) into the car to drive down to see the lights at the temple. We walked around and enjoyed how nice and empty it was. Ellie had fallen asleep on the way there. She perked up for a bit in the beginning when we got there but she just didn't have the stamina to make it long. Included is also the picture that's one of my favorite things to see in a Christmas light display...a tree with oranges growing on it!
Since we just dropped everything to go, we decided to stop at Organstop Pizza on the way home. We got there for the last hour and had some pizza and enjoyed some really impressive organ skills. All the kids loved it, Ellie just for one song and half a slice of pizza before she was asleep there. But it was a great way to finish off an impromptu family night together.
It all reminded me just how great it is that we have just hung out as a family this week between Christmas and New Years while John is off work!

i love having the whole family together. although school for tim was horrible, it did give it those school breaks every once in awhile. real life never has those breaks. makes them all the more precious when they do come, right?
