So one of my amazing friends has started a goat farm on her property. She has chickens and a bunny and lots of goats. We went out to drop some stuff off to her, but really it was to take a peek at the two new baby goats that had been born only a couple days before.
Ellie was so excited all day. I had to say such things like, the goats are taking their nap to convince her to be patient to wait to go out there until it was time. She was so anxious to get there. Well, the time finally arrived to go see the goats. What did she do? Run and hide and not want to touch them. We finally convinced her to hold one for just a second but it was short lived.
She did however love to feed the big momma and daddy goats. That didn't scare her at all. She kept grabbing more straw and would put her hand through the fence and let them eat out of her hand. I can't figure out why baby goats are so much scarier than their parents but for her they were. Now for me, the baby goats were adorable.
She also was terrified of the chickens and worked to stay far out of their way. But she did love looking at the eggs we got from Kayci in all their pretty colors not just the normal white ones. All the kids said it felt like easter having different colored eggs in the fridge. You'd better bet it made everything I cooked and made with them taste better having them from pretty eggs.
We enjoyed the little time we got to spend with Kayci, her boys and her animals. We need to go out and see them all a lot more often than we do. The other kids would love the chance to see them too, but for now, we'll enjoy our eggs and the laughter that Ellie caused with all her strange fears.
