Several times a year the school has spirit week. Rachel unlike my boys loves to get into it and dress up. They have really started doing "different" things over the last year or so. Not just pj, crazy hair, and 70's like it used to be. No, now we have a huge assortment. She had favorite character in a book day. She was a girl from the book wings. It was pretty easy, normal clothes with wings. But Marvel Super Hero Day was a tough one for a girl. She has never dressed up as a super hero and really wanted to be a girl super hero not a boy. But you also must stay in school dress code...wonderwoman is tricky to do modestly. Let's face it. All girl comic book characters are tough to do modestly. She decided to do Black widow. Picture above is one of the more modest pictures we found of her.
She had to come up with the costume in one night..with no money. She did pretty good I think. The yellow sleeves and waist thing are an old t-shirt cut up and tied/safetypinned in place. The only thing she really lacked was the flaming red hair but that just wasn't going to happen. I let my little girl go with bright red lips. That was tough enough for this momma. But I love that she likes to participate and that she comes up with ways to do the costumes herself. Way to go Rachel!

i've never seen black widow in cartoon character, that's wild looking. rachel is much better at it! :) how fun! but not too many girl super heros that are well known, that must have been hard for others to figure out....
