Matthew's basketball team had a pretty tough season. They were working on finding their way as a team. They had a blast playing and always kept their spirits up but high loss games were what they were getting used to. They came into the final tournament as an 8th seeded team out of 8 teams.

The first game of the tournament they played the number 1 seed team. With two minutes left in the game they were up by two. It was so close! They missed a few free throws at the end and lost by just a couple points. But you'd have thought those boys won by the joy and excitement they had with that loss! They were so pumped up!

That became apparent at the next game when they won the next game by over 10 pts. This is just not the team we had spent the season watching. John and I had made other plans for the afternoon not expecting the boys to do good enough to make it past the first two games. So Matthew went to another players house to hang out and wait for the next game. We got a call that they had won that game 30 to 29. Yep they were on fire!

Game four came around and it was back and forth through the game. In the end they lost a close game to end the season. But wow! What a run those boys went on that day! As much fun as it was to see them come back like that, I can't help but be glad that they didn't play two more games against that first team of the morning for the championship. They could hold onto close losses and an amazing run instead of ending the day possibly really badly. One of their really good players would not be available for the last two games so they ended the season as a team on cloud nine!

Way to go Matthew! We loved watching you progress! You even scored this basketball season a few times! Those were some great days!
