Yes, we all know my feelings on things like science fairs and other big "mom assignments". These would be great things if they were really expected and achievable to be done by a child. But they are done more by parents than by children. This year there were some strange requirements added to the pile. Then to add to it Matthew had to change his project becuase someone else was doing the same one two weeks before it was due. Luckily John took Matthew and got the actual project part of it done and remembered to take pictures for the poster. Good husband!
But, it was tough to get it done when there was a HUGE project due for math..had to do a breakdown of living costs for a person for day/week/month/year researching out costs of living in all areas. Then day after that, he also had a huge assignment for English and History. Not to mention teachers not only think they are his only teacher, which once you hit middle school it's not true, but that he's your only child, so heaven forbid I take time to help Rachel finish her big project requiring writing and building a set for a sock puppet play (Thanks debbie for all you did on that one. Wouldn't have been done without great friends!) And again, I've got another kid in school who had a huge WWII project due..which he did without any help from me. I love that kid at times like this. And he had another big project for Math where he had to design and build a virtual house accounting for all expenses and keeping it in budget. It was a huge project we were happy to have completed. So, due to all my time leading up to all that week where all matthew's projects were due. So by the time we reached the night before the science fair project due my poor kid was past exhausted even after I spent the day typing it all up for him to make it go quicker. He was just too tired to get the "journal" finished for it the night before it's due. Gotta love a kid who tries this hard though.
