This is what we recieved and were expected to have a second grader do, assigned on Monday and due on Friday!!!! Also can we note that one of the options for a second grader to do is a power point presentation??? Seriously? What second grader is doing that? A parent is doing that not the kid!!! So there is my final rant about this project. Rachel did have wonderful handwriting for her project. I decided that was all I cared that she got out of the assignment!
Dear Parents,
Our next Social Studies unit focuses on the countries of Japan, India, and China. Each student will be responsible for designing a poster or Power Point presentation on one of the countries. The country your child will present will be assigned at school. Your presentation must include the following:
• Elements of Culture
• The countries Flag
• Traditions
• History of trade
• Maps and photos
• Art, architecture, and/or inventions
• Time line of historical events
Other things you may want to include are food, clothing, climate, family, and any other interesting things you find in your research.
On the other side of this sheet is the rubric of the expectations for grading. Don’t forget that 10 points will be deducted for each day the project is late. The due date is Friday, February 5th. Students will present their finished project to the class. It may help to practice the presentation at home.
We hope you have fun working on this together and are looking forward to seeing your finished projects.

Wow, I think I would complain to the school about unrealistic expectations and "parent" assignments. Good job Rachel (and Mommy)
