What happens in Vegas....is talked about for weeks!

So one of the fun things Matthew had happen this year with soccer is he has been able to travel to different locations to play against teams of his level from all over. One of the biggest tournaments he's ever played in was a couple weeks ago in Las Vegas. This was a big deal since they played teams from Colorado, California, & Nevada. Two of those states for his age group play 11 players on this field per team instead of the 8 Matthew is used to playing with. For this tournament they had to play with the new format of 11v11. They played two games on Saturday. Then a game Sunday morning. They only lost one game on Saturday. So they played in the championship game on Sunday afternoon. They came in second loosing to the same team they lost to before who was undefeated. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Matthew scored the first goal of the weekend which did a ton for his self esteem going into the weekend. John said he was on fire all weekend long. He was put in to play goalie and did so awesome many of the parents and the coach are still talking about it and telling me about it. It was great for Matthew to feel like such a huge asset to the team. But one of the other fun things about the weekend was he and John left Friday morning (Skipping school and work) and drove to Vegas and stayed until Sunday evening when they drove home. It was just the two of them together for the weekend. They went bowling with the team at the bowling alley in their hotel. Then on Saturday they went to the m&m museum and a few fun places before their first game. After their second game that day they went to the Stratosphere and rode all the rides at the top of it. They had a blast. It was fun to see the pictures and hear them talk about it. As I stated we let him play in the games on Sunday. We struggled with this decision and let it be an exception to the rule. They did take a break inbetween games to go to church (which matthew slept through). It just really was an amazing week for them to really spend some quality time together. I will post some pictures as soon as I get them scanned in the computer.
