4th of July, neighborhood fun

This summer we didn't get to do our traditional trip to Northern Arizona for cooler weather and great fireworks.  I can't bring myself to drive around in the heat of the city for fireworks here so we stayed in the neighborhood with friends.
They set up a huge tarp, a hose and baby wash and great fun was had by all.  Two things impressed me most...my Ellie who is terrified of water had a blast doing this and no one was hurt!
Just ran the hose for a while, what a good guy.
The older kids played volleyball in the dark and just had fun.  This is Matthew and his friend Michael Niu.
Then my kids did something I am ashamed to say they have never done before.  They all got to play with sparklers and lit fireworks in front of our friends house.

Ellie thought it was great until she burned her finger picking up a hot one.  But overall, though it wasn't how I wanted to spend my 4th, it was a great substituion and hopefully next year we will have a car that can fit us all so we can go to Heber again.
